DAY 01 ARRIVE DELHI / JAIPUR

drive to Jaipur (235 kms, 05 hrs drive). Assistance upon arrival and check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Jaipur- Also known as the Pink City, it was built with Hindu rules of town planning. Pink being the traditional color of welcome, the city was steeped in it in 1853 in honor of Prince Albert’s visit and the colour is still used. The important sights include a visit to the City Palace, part of it is the residence of the Maharaja of Jaipur and part of it is converted into a museum.

DAY 02 JAIPUR

A morning sightseeing tour of Amber Fort – Situated about 11 kms from Jaipur, it was the ancient capital of the State until 1728. Ascend the hill on elephant back on which the fort is situated (If elephants are not available then jeeps will be provided as alternate). Visit the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of mirrors), Jai Mahal and other palaces within the fort. Overnight.

DAY 03 JAIPUR / AGRA

Morning drive to Agra (265 Kms, 06 hours drive). Assistance upon arrival and check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Agra – Once a capital of the Mughals, today it is famous for its world famous “dream in marble” – the Taj Mahal. Built by Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his favorite Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains is a monument to love. Visit the Agra Fort, build over the Mughal period (each emperor adding to it), see various palaces and the Halls of Public and Private Audience. Overnight.

DAY 04 AGRA/JHANSI/KHAJURAHO

Early morning depart by train to Jhansi (to carry packed breakfast). Shatabadi Express – Departs Agra at 0812 hrs I Arrives Jhansi at 1020 hrs.
Arrive Jhansi and drive to Khajuraho (175 kms, 04 hrs drive) en route visit Orcha which is set on an island on a bend in the Betwa River, Orchha was built when the Bundela rulers were at their peak. Once the capital of its own state, it contains three palaces. The most impressive is the Jahangir Mahal, built in 17th century, synthesizes the Hindu and Muslim styles. Orchha is an excellent example of a medieval fort palace; within the turreted walls are gardens, gateways and pavilions as well as numerous temples. Near the river are a few cenotaphs of the former rulers, many of them are lying in neglect. Assistance upon arrival and check-in at the hotel. Overnight.

DAY 05 KHAJURAHO / VARANASI

Morning sightseeing tour of Khajuraho – Built by Chandela kings between 950 and 1050 AD, of the original 85 temples, the 25 surviving are among the finest temples in India. Some of the important temples include Lakshmana Temple, the earliest and best preserved; dedicated to Siva is Kandariya Mahadeva Temple which is also the venue for the annual dance festival. These temples are architectural masterpieces with their remarkable sculpted panels which show great sensitivity and warmth, and reflect society in an age free from inhibitions.

DAY 06 VARANASI / KATHMANDU

Early Morning Boat Excursion on the holy river Ganges to see the bathing ghats and cremation site. For the Hindus, bathing in Ganges signify purifying oneself, also it is a belief that to die in Kashi and to be cremated on the banks of River Ganges leads to Nirvana – the release from the cycle of birth and death. During the boat ride one can see people taking bath at the ghats and offering prayers. Transfer to airport to connect the flight to Kathmandu.

DAY 07 KATHMANDU

Morning sightseeing tour of Kathmandu – Visit the Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal resident quarter, Mahadev and Parvati Temple, Machhender Bahl – (a royal place for the Buddhists and Hindus). Temple House of Kumari and restal virgin or the living goddess. Walk around the local bazaars. Swayambhunath – a 2500 years old site where, it is believed, the Radiant Lotous of valley mythology settled when the water was drained by Manjushri, the God of Wisdom. The 5 dhyani Buddhas attended by their consorts are enshrined at the base of the stupa. Also visit the adjoining Museum.

Afternoon sightseeing tour of Bhadgaon – A newar city of 9th century. Visit the ancient gateway. Durbar square, royal residential quarter of Bhupendra Malia, temple of Natyapole in pagoda style and other temples. Pashupatinath – The Varanasi of Nepal is the most revered shrine of Shiva sited on the banks of the sacred Bagmati. While non Hindus are not permitted inside the temple precincts – a walk in the environs is a richly rewarding experience of colour and custom. Overnight.

DAY 08 KATHMANDU/ DELHI

Morning sightseeing tour of Bodhnath – This collosal Stupa is one of the largest in the world. The Stupa has the all seeing eyes of the Lord Buddha. It was built by king Mana Deva in expiation of his sins in the 5th century AD. on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheels. Transfer to airport to connect the flight to Delhi.

DAY 09 DELHI

Morning sightseeing tour of Old Delhi – It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan on the banks of river Yamuna in the early 17th century and was the capital of the Mughal kingdom, Red Fort continue to Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India and the last great architectural work of the great Mughal builder. Walk through the dense network of narrow alleys of Chandni Chowk ­the shopping centre of Old Delhi. Finally visit the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi – the father of the Nation and Jawahar Lal Nehru – first Prime Minister of the Independent India, which are now parks dedicated to their memory.

Afternoon sightseeing tour of New Delhi – Also known as the Lutyen’s Delhi, it was the capital of the British Empire and is a contrast to Old Delhi. Some important sights that come under the area of New Delhi include Qutub Minar – the tallest stone tower in India built in 1199; and India Gate – the War Memorial Arch. Drive past the President’s Estate and Parliament buildings, through Diplomatic Enclave and Connaught Place, main commercial centre of Delhi. Overnight.
